ADHD On The Rise
According to recent government figures, the amount of children affected by ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) has grown by about 1 million the past few years. A survey taken in 2007 showed that about 1 in 10 children have been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives. This statistic is very different from the statistic from 2003, showing that 1 in 13 children have been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives. This increase could either be from an increase in the disorder, or more lenient diagnostic procedures. 2/3 of this children affected by ADHD were taking medication to treat it.

I think that the reason there is an "increase" in the amount of children affected with ADHD is due to some changes in the way ADHD is diagnosed. I can't think of any reason this disorder would increase over time, except more leniant diagnostics. This rise in childre diagnosed with ADHD could also affect doctors. Doctors should prepare to treat about 1 million more children nationwide who have ADHD. This could result in overworked doctors.
