Abbot Diabetic Test Strips Recalled Over False Low Blood Sugar Readings
This article is about the maker of the glucose test strips that diabetics use to monitor their blood sugar. There is an recall on about 359 million strips and they may present a false reading of low blood sugar. There is an defect in the strip and is limiting the amount of blood sugar that each can absorb. That can lead up to the people raising their blood glucose when it is unnecessary. They could also fail to treat there high blood glucose due to a false reading of there blood sugar.
My opinion of this article is that the company should test there products before they put it on the market. They should me tested by more than one person also. But they should also be more careful with there products and if they are real careless with the strips they should try another way for the people to check there blood sugar. If the people are getting a different strip reading everytime that is not good because the strips arent accurate and the people would be doing so many things for there sugar either taking to much sugar or having not enought of sugar.

Short Index Fingers Mean Higher Prostate Cancer Risk , Study Finds
This article is about a man that has a large index finger and is at a lower risk of prostate cancer. The men that has an index finger longer than their ring finger are one-third less likely to get prostate cancer than men whos finger lengths are the opposite. Some of the relatives finger lengths could be used as an simple test for a risk of prostate cancer. The size of your index finger adn ring finger is determined at birth and it is linked to the amount of sex hormones that a fetus is exposed to in the womb. The study has been linked to the fertility and self-confidence and reaction times.
My opinion of this article is that they still need to do some more study on this disease.I think every man should know about this disease so they can make sure they dont have this disease. They should talk about this more to the men when they go to the doctors.

Omega 3 Pills Fail To Help Alzheimer's Patients

This article is about the pills called Omega 3 and it doesnt help elderly people with the Alzheimers disease. The Omega 3 pill was a powerful memory booster and it showed no evidence of delaying mental and physical problems with the Alzheimers patients. There were half of the 300 participants with the mild that had moderate with the Alzheimers disease that was given twice daily that contained the omega 3 fatty acid in it.The DHA is produced in your brain and the Alzheimers sufferers has a lower amount of the fatty acid than other people. In the DHA oil in the pills that are given to the patients in the last study had came from algea.
My opinion of this article is that they should have tested those pills a second time before they put them on the market and gave them to people. So what is the point of puttiong something on the market like that if its not going to help people with there problems. They need to come up with something else to give to the Alzheimers patients because the Omega pills arent working and they are making people sick. They have all of this new technology now and they still caint do there job by testing there products.

The article "Study: Aspirin Cuts Deaths From Wide Variety Of Cancers" is a very interesting article. In the article it explains that the aspirin pill can prevent death of a variety of cancers. It explains that if you take a aspirin long enough during your middle than this can become kind of a shield of cancers over time. With the aspirin's anti-inflammatory properties, this can become a very good cancer fighting medication. Scientistist have concluded that injesting a single aspirin can be a real life changer and it really can pay off in the long run.
In my opinion this article was kinda boring but very useful. A simple aspirin can maybe save your life one day and its awesome about how something so small and simple can maybe be a life saver for you. Aspirins are a mild pain killer that are used for small injurys and medical reasons. Who knew that something thats meant and made for something so small can later treat something so big and life threatening diseases. I think that is very cool

Mom's Smoking in Pregnancy Tied To Girl's Puberty

This article is about women who smoke heavily during pregnancy who start menustrating months earlier than the daughters of women who didnt smoke while they were pregnant. The girls mothers who smoked at least 10 cigarettes per day doing there pregnancy .If they smoke for part of their pregnancies they began menstrauting only 3 to 4 months earlier than some of the girls whos mothers stayed smoke free.If a girl was to start menustrating early atleast a few months early they could have some effects on the population. You can gte a higher risk of health problems in life if a woman has started menustrating early. The earlier your period they have been associated with the earlier sexual activities and has had some kind of substances such as alcohol , and cigarettes.
My opinion of this article is that it gives alot of advice to women who are pregnant and they smoke while they are pregnant. You shouldnt smoke while you are pregnant because something could happen to your baby. When you go for a check up on the baby they tell you that you shouldnt smoke at all.

Superantigens Could Be Behind Illness
This article is about staphylococcus bacterial infection that is difficult to explain. Doctors are saying that the body can cause more illness's than we know. Karin Lindvist says that "Super antigens have an thing for disrupting the body." If your infected with the infection than your system could get really ill. Study shows that super antigens active immune system in more ways than doctors showed. The body has developed cells that kills and remove foreign invaders. The yellow staphylococci is the most common bacteria in the world.
My Opinion:
My opinion on this article is that i hope they can get a stronger medication to fight this staph infection so it could stop spreading across the world. Penicillins are antibiotics used to clear up the infection.

Why can’t normal birth be the norm ?

Giving birth to a child is a very strange process. One in three and 1 in 2 babies born in the United States are not delivered vaginally. Many babies are born late term of preterm which has many consequences such as lifelong disabilities. Many women do not take time to think about the actual birthing process and they do not prepare themselves for it. So far the U.S. is the second worst out of all developed countries when it comes to infant mortality.
I think that women should prepare themselves more for the birth of their children during early pregnancy. I think that more people should witness the birth of children so they can know what to expect when they have a child. I also think that people should become more educated about the actual birthing process and what actually goes on. People should also prepare themselves for what happens if something goes wrong during a birth. Everyone should be educated about child birth.

Scientist suppress hunger hormone

Scientists at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine have been looking into suppressing levels of the “hunger hormone” ghrelin in pigs. They used a chemical vapor in the main vessel carrying blood to the top section, or fundus, of the stomach to make the breakthrough. In the study of pigs this procedure produced an effect similar to bariatric surgery by suppressing ghrelin levels and subsequently lowering appetite, the expert added. They used pigs because of their human-like anatomy and physiology. It was reported by his team memebers that efforts to safely and easily suppress grehlin had very limited success.

I think that this is not a good thing because its people own fault and they should be able to control their own obesity. Its all stupid , they should learn how to have self control when it comes to food. Scientist should not have to do reasearch on things that prevent people from "getting fat"

This article is about how a teacher is going back to his hometown in order to show his human cadaver exhibit. He is very intrigued by the anatomy of the human body. He believes that it is a great thing he is contributing back to his old community. He has developed away to perserve bodies and believes that the knowledge of the anatomy should be shared. I think it is great what he is doing. He has found an educational way to give back to his community. It is important that people learn and observe how the human body works. Many do not fully understand or have the basic knowledge of the body. Therefore if someone is willing to explain to them, I feel at least someone will want to listen.

Powering Up Your Kids with Healthy Snacks

Healthy snacks have helped children to improve better in sports and to become more alert. Parents are trying to teach their children at early ages that if they treat their bodies right now, then it will pay off in the long run. Years ago when soccer players were being fed doughnuts and soda as a snack, they were performing low and getting tired easily. Now that the soccer players have been fed orange slices and fruit juice, they have been able to maintain more energy and they are performing much higher. Parents are also teaching their children to treat the earth as they would treat their bodies.
I think that it is very important that parents teach their children to treat their bodies and the earth with respect at a young age. If parents enforce these values in their children, then they will be able to teach the same values to their children. I think that the foods that you eat and your amount of alertness are connected. I think that if children are taught these values at a young age they will stay with them all of their life. These values will also help children to become resourceful throughout their lives.

Brain Development From Birth to Old Age: An Overview

The brain is constantly changing everyday. As we age, our brains tend to go back to the same stage that they were in when we were born, our memories start to get shorter, and conversations start to not make sense. Today, we have more knowledge about the brain then we have had ten years ago. Scientists spend less time researching the functions of the brain and spend more time on human anatomy. The brain has been treated as an unimportant part of the body.
I think that scientists should spend more time focusing on the brain, and going into deeper study. If scientists studied the brain more, there would be a cure for diseases such as alzhiemers. I think that infancy to the brain can be reversed after a few years of indepth study. I think that the brain will eventually be able to expand its capacity to learn if scientists take the time to study. The brain will improve greatly in a short period of time.

Home breast cancer screening device recalled, Health Canada says ineffective

A product that is used to detect early breast cancer called the Breast light has been recalled in Canada. It is said that it has been ineffective. It has been sold to women to detect changes in their breasts over time and a source of breast cancer awareness. There has been no evidence that the device has been used to detect early signs of breast cancer and it is not a replacement for routine breast examinations. The company Health Canada is working to improve that product so that it can be used.
I think that in the future there will be a product that can be replaced with routine breast examinations. I think that the breast light is the beginning of the evolution cancer awareness devices. I think these devices can also be hazardous because all new products have some type of glitch. I think this product might also cause cancer in some way. For now women should just go to the doctor and get there breast checked.

In this article, GE Healthcare annouced on Nov. 29th 2010, that 510k clearence of its next generation wireless. They are introducing the digital X-ray detector at the 96th annual meeting of the radiological society of North America. Flashpad is a flexible, wireless detector that features two handles that make it easier to position and manuever. It is equpped with GE's most advanced x-ray detector technology.

The making of this new tecnology is a brillaint invention. They spent alot of money on these tecnologies. The x-ray detectors are very useful, also the flashpad.

In the article "Overeating, Like Drug Use, Rewards And Alters Brain" we learn that eating can alter your brain. In the article it explains that a scientist, Ralph DiLeone studied that cocaine addicts brain circuits perform the same impulses as of some one who is hungry. So your brain reacts to food as if you are on a diet, is the same reaction a drug addict reacts to drug withdrawl. Even though the person on a diet is on a less severe case of withdrawl as a drug addict, but their symptoms are similar. They also explain that your brain reacts and wants sweet and fatty foods more than others. These foods can act as a drug also and in some cases, people who are "addicted" to sweet and fatty foods can't go a day without them. Theres no wonder what our brains can get addicted to.
This article was very interesting to me. Theres really no wonder what our brains are capable of doing and getting addicted to. Maybe thats the reason for obesity in the United States. People get addicted to the fatty and sweet foods and slowly gain weight. Mcdonalds are the drug dealers and our community is the helpless victims.

New Clue To The Physiology Of Insomnia

Studies that have been performed in the University of Wisconsin that have shown that people with damage to certain parts of their brain may have problems falling asleep and staying asleep. They may even experience extreme insomnia. A study was done concerning brain injured Vietnam veterians and their sleeping habits. The team of scientists found that infact, all of the men had moderate to severe insomia.

I think that this could help with some sort of break through for people with extreme sleeping issues. Maybe top scientists and doctors can work together to develop a new surgical procedure to fix the part of the brain that affects the sleeping, or even a medicine.

- Doctors are telling people that over-doses on Vitamin D will cause a lot of problems. Daily doces of viatmin D should be around 400-600. Blood levels of vitamin D don't need to be higher than 20 nanograms per milliliter of blood. The Institute of Medicine experts worry that taking vitamin D in large doses over a long period might harm some people. The only benefit, it says, is to maintain healthy bones.

- Today in the world people will try anything to be healthier any way possible. Over using vitamin D may cause you to over-use your energy at one time. You should atleast have 600 units of vitamin D daily. Researchers are now doing tests to see what should be the estimate of vitamin D daily. I believe that people should always take care of what they put into their body.

On World AIDS Day: Progress, But There's "So Much of it Out There"

More advanced treatments for AIDS and prevention of the spreading of HIV/AIDS have become available to us. Because of this, the rate of deaths due to HIV/AIDS has gone down by 20% since 2004. However, "for every person who's put on treatment, two more people are getting infected". While we are getting more and more advanced treatments, it's hard to totally stop the spread of HIV/AIDS. Doctors and researchers are working very hard to stop HIV/AIDS all together.

I think that this disease is very terrible and scary. It's good that we have made 20% progress since 2004, but we should do more things to stop the spreading. If we stopped the spreading of HIV/AIDS, we could keep it somewhat under control. We could have businesses test all of their employees for AIDS and tell them to take preventative measures. I also think we need more awareness for HIV/AIDS.
