Aol new has documented that the government know about this and has refused to but out a warning about this deadly insulation.
i think that the government is being really selfish also i think that in a way that the government are being murders. its the same as being a partner in a murder crim. they know but they dont say anything its the same as a murders friend knowing whats going on but not saying anything i think that this should be handeled the same way the murders friend would be just as guilty as they are so the givernment should be treated the same way.

Protecting the Immune System With Supplements and Pills

This article is about Coughs,Colds, Flu and the Norovirus and how it is sweeping the different countries at the moment. When the seasons change around Christmas time that is when people start getting sick with either the flu or a cold. The Norovirus is a stomach virus that causes vommiting and diarrhoea. Some people who has this virus will recover from it in about one or two days. There is no cure for this virus you just have to get some rest and let it run its course.Your immune system that is made up of the special cells ,proteins, tissues, and organs defend people from the different type of germs and micro organisms every single day and it could also lead to some problems such as illness and infections. One of the ways you can protect your small infant is by breast feeding them because over the years past lesser women has turned down the option of bottle feeding because there infant isnt getting enough antibodies that they need.As the years go by your immune system might need some help staying healthy and fit its course the regular way so there may be some form of supplements or tablets that you could take to boost your immune system.

My opinion about this article is that women should read this article because some people might change there mind about not feeding there infants a bottle they might want to try bread feeding instead. So I would advice women to read this article. When you go to the doctros when you are pregnant they ask you if you want to breast feed or not.But if you catch a cold or a virsu in the winter time you should go to the doctors right away. That is why they advice everybody to get the flu shot so you wont catch it or so you wont die from it because there is a case where you can die from the flu virus if you donttake care of your self and do what the doctor tell you to do.You should always keep your hands washed at all times and dont put your fingers in your mouth so you wont get bacteria in your mouth or anywhere else.

"Fragile" progressin halting AIDS epidemic

http://www.aolnews.com/health/article/un-study-hiv-infections-aids-related-deaths-drop-nearly-20-percent/19730298

The number of of new HIV infections and AIDS related deaths has declined very much, over the past year . since AIDS and HIVS has been found , this is the first time researchers has been slowed down or even halted. The UNAIDS annual report found a nearly 20 percent decrease in new HIV infections globally and an almost 20 percent decline in deaths among those infected with HIV from 2004 to 2009. The UNAIDS annual report stated that while progress in the fight against AIDS has been made thanks to an increase in access to life-saving drugs, treatments are still being denied to 10 million people infected with the disease around the world, particularly children and members of marginalized communities. The gains are "real but still fragile," the report said. Researchers noted that those gains depend on resources that have been hard to come by since the global recession began.
I think that this is very good that AID statics are declining. i think this has a lot to do with the various "get tested" commercial , and HIV and AIDS awareness. i think its very good, the government finally made a good impact on something.

Why so many antibodies fail to protect against HIV

Scientist have been studying that people infected with HIV/AIDS produce the antibodies in the pathogen . Antibodies that turn out to be ineffective in blocking infection need to have in place in order for them to mount an effective defense. Antibodies called 2F5 and 4E10 – target a specific part of the outer coating of the virus. Antibodies that are able to latch on the virus reveals parts of the structure .

This article is showing that scientist are studying on why antibodies don't protect against the virus AIDS/HIV. HIV is a very hard sickness that cant beat the protection cells in your body and when you are sick you can't be good again. Antibodies can not fight against a virus . Doctors want to find the out why this is happening.

Reasearcher discover rules that dicate the three dimensional shapes of RNA molecules

University of Michigan reasearchers discovered rules that are not based on complex chemical interactions but simply on geometry. They are doing this to see if RNA bonds to other molecules such as proteins and small molecule drugs. The overall goal is to be able to manipulate the 3d structure by tweaking the drug molecules with which it interacts.

I think they should leave it alone and let nature do its on thing. I feel this way because reasearchers are doing a little too much, people have been living just fine for millions of years and they are just messing with science .

Obesity Weighs On The Wealthy In Poor Countries

This article is about the obesity epidemic that has taken over in many developing countries. The poor people with in the same border cant even gain alot of weight. In th U.S. there is a higher obesity trend and heavier trend on the poor people . They found out that about a quarter of the women were over weight. The Subramanian and his colleagues had looked up some of the trends in the weights and more than half a million women across the 54 developing between 1994-2008.After they did there new study they found out that a quarter of the women were over weight .
My opinion of this article is that people just need to watch what they eat and see how many calories are in the different types of food that they eat.You also should exercise and keep your weight down and dont eat alot of sugary foods and pastas. So when you go to the doctors thats what they might tell you when they ask what kind of foods do you eat.

Exhibit at Atrium Mall uses dead bodies to show human anatomy

http://www.wickedlocal.com/newton/features/x426771498/Exhibit-at-Atrium-Mall-uses-dead-bodies-to-show-human-anatomy

Tom Mulholland travels all over the United States with dead people. Why? Because he is a part of a moving exhibit that shows the human anatomy, inside and out. All together there are 13 bodies in the collection, including single organs and slices of the human body flattened in glass by the process called plastification. This allows you to take a look at what is inside the different layers of our bodies. Mulholland said, "Its basically an anatomy class in 3D." The different cadavers are positioned in different ways, one doing a windmill kick into a soccer ball.

I think this is a great opportunity to study the human form and organs to get a better understanding of how intracate we actually are. Also, this would be a great exhibit to take a feild trip to in highschool, or just come and look if youre majoring in nursing or a job in the medical field in collage. I think its cool how they take these cadavers and position them in action poses, not just the body standing upright.

In the recent years, it has been shown that 1 in every 10 children are diagnosed with ADHD some point in their lives. The jumps in this were mainly seen in kids between 15 and 17, in Hispanic or multiracial children. The rise in Hispanic children may result in better access to care, and will be taken with more acceptance in the culture. There is medicine that can be taken, and currently two thirds of the children with it take the medicine to help control they way they act.

My opinion on this article, is that their are many kids in the world who have ADHD, and since there is a way to help calm it down. that there is no reason to over react.

In honor of the likely demise of the controversial caffeinated alcoholic beverage Four Loko, we at The Lookout have put together a time line documenting the beverage's surprisingly rapid rise and fall since its woozy 2005 inception at the hands of a group of Ohio State University students. One can of Four Loko, seen at right, contains the equivalent of five beers and three cups of coffee.

I think that they should do away with four lokos for the safety of the students who drink. There has been stories that students have been dying from one loko. If that's happening then the government should take them away. They are said to have five beers and three coffees in them. Two of them is getting you drunk and making you very hyper and I think those two in combination is not a very good idea.

The article "Studies: Drug, Device Help Treat Heart Failure" is a very interesting article thats full of information. In the article it explains that a Pfizer drug and a device from Medtronic can boost survival and cut trips to the hospital by patients having trouble breathing. This is very good news to patients with mild to moderate heart failure. More than 5 million Americans and 22 million people worldwide have heart failure each year. With this combination of the new drug "Inspra" and the new device out that helps breathing, heart failure patients have a little less weight on their backs.
In my opinion this article was pretty interesting! It shows how science can really help or save people's lives. These kind of experiments are the ones that truely help people. These are what our tax dollars need to be spent on and this really gives up for humanity. If we can solve heart failure, who knows what else we can solve!

For a Healthier Middle-Aged Heart, Try Less Salt as a Teen

In the US, we consume way too much salt. As I'm sure you may know, too much salt in your daily diet can lead to a heart attack, high blood pressure, and even a stroke. To prevent disease in the future, teens should begin cutting some salt from their diet now. Researchers discovered that if teens cut their daily salt intake by 3 grams, the number of them and their peers who got Cardiovascular Disease by the age of 50 would decrease by 100,000. If adults cut their salt intake by 3 grams, it would save 44,000-92,000 lives per year.

I never really consider salt intake when I eat. This article encouraged me to consider it, and do something about the aount of salt I eat. I think that if we got schools, restaurants, and even food companies to cut the amount of salt they used in their food, it could really help us. It's amazing that just cutting daily salt intake by 1/2 of a teaspoon could save 100,000 lives. If we want heart prolems to cease, we need to do something about how much salt we are eating.

Teen Hearing Loss Soars 30 Percent in The Decades

This article is about teens that has a hearing loss soars.Teens it might be wise to listen at what yur parents tell you about turning your volume down on on any electronics. Some american adolescents are suffering from more hearing loss than there where 30 years ago and one in five people have problems now from that. From the year of 1988 to 1994 there was about 15 percent of youth suffering some degree of hearing loss. The survey that they took included data from youth that are the age of 12 to 19 and the percentage of the more recent survey was 19.5 percent out of a 30 percent increase. The team warns that losses in the excess of 25 dB increased from 3.5 percent to 5.3 percent. There is a history of ear infections and exposure to loud noises didnt even influence the rise which had contradicts earlier studies. Some of the adolescents and young adults typically underestimate the symptoms of loud sounds , tinnitus and temporaray hearing impairment during the music exposures.
My opinion about this article is that now I know why my parents tell me to turn my music down because I always have my music real loud. But now I know not to have my music blasting like I usually do.If you have your music real loud you can damage your ears really bad.You also can have hearing lose.So I would advice the people who listen to there music real loud to stop so you wont damage your ears or have some defects or get soars in your ears and I know you dont want that so I wolud advise everybody to read this article if you are a teenager especially.

Northwestern Medicine study say that dopamine releasing neurons in a part of the brain called the substantia nigra it requires a lot of energy, it creates stress that could have the neurons suffure from premature death. The death of neurons can cause Parkinsons Disease . Its common for people to lose dopamine releasing neurons with age. Causes of Parkinsons disease doesnt have a known genetic link , its the second most common neurodegenerative disease.

I think they should do more research on this , because this could be the cause of Parkinsons disease.

According to the medicine Glucosamine is now a risk of death in the pancreatic cells and cause Diabetes. The use of this medicine causes a increase in insulin-producing pancreatic cells. Glucosamine triggers to having a very high blood sugar level. A high concentration of glucosamine shortens the level of SIRT1, which leads to cell death in tissues where the protein is abundant, to the pancreas. People who take in large amounts of Glucosamine, and who consume it for long periods, have an little SIRT1 in their cells , so therefore it can cause a greater risk of diabetes.
I think that they should find a new drug to use , since the Glucosamine causes diabetes. People shouldnt use this cause , you need your pancreatic & using the pills kills those cells for making up that organ. So , therefore they shold find a medicine thats less harmful to the systme & that wont call risk in diabetes. Cause , people take large amounts of these pills that cause arthritis.

ADHD On The Rise
According to recent government figures, the amount of children affected by ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) has grown by about 1 million the past few years. A survey taken in 2007 showed that about 1 in 10 children have been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives. This statistic is very different from the statistic from 2003, showing that 1 in 13 children have been diagnosed with ADHD at some point in their lives. This increase could either be from an increase in the disorder, or more lenient diagnostic procedures. 2/3 of this children affected by ADHD were taking medication to treat it.

I think that the reason there is an "increase" in the amount of children affected with ADHD is due to some changes in the way ADHD is diagnosed. I can't think of any reason this disorder would increase over time, except more leniant diagnostics. This rise in childre diagnosed with ADHD could also affect doctors. Doctors should prepare to treat about 1 million more children nationwide who have ADHD. This could result in overworked doctors.

Duke university is doing a study on a single gene may give perennial grasses more roots and speed up the timeline for creating bio fuels, Duke Institute for Genome Sciences & Policy (IGSP)Perennial grasses, switch grass and muskiness are bio fuels crops and they are taken up more than the others because they are easy to find.Philip Ben fey one of the director of the IGSP Center for Systems Biology also agreed with this theory.
"These biofuel crops usually can't be harvested until the second or third year," Benfey said. "A method to improve root growth could have a major role in reducing the time to harvest for warm season grasses."
That genome-wide search in the roots of the familiar laboratory plant Arabidopsis and screening of mutant lines turned up a single gene, which the researchers call UPBEAT1 (UPB1). Further study showed that UPB1 controls the gene expression of enzymes.
When the researchers disrupted UPB1 activity in the plant root, it messed up the radicals that cells delayed their differentiation and continued growing. Those plants ended up with faster-growing roots, having more and larger cells. When UPB1 activity was artificially increased, the growth of plant roots slowed.

Tobacco-Based Vaccines Could Pwn Future Pandemics

(Nov. 4) -- Pandemics and bio-terror threats might one day be a health hazard of the past. A massive undertaking by the U.S. military is rapidly transforming vaccine production, yielding fast-tracked approaches to wipe out new illnesses before they spread. The military's been after better bio-threat prevention methods since 2005, but it was only last year that the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) launched its Blue Angel program to come up with quicker responses to emerging flu viruses. H1N1 (the virus originally referred to by the media as "swine flu") was the catalyst for the initiative, which has led to $100 million in new research and development investments by the Pentagon agency."We've used H1 as an example, a proof of concept," Col. (Dr.) Alan Magill, a DARPA program manager, told American Forces Press Service, noting that H1N1 wasn't as lethal as initially feared. "We hope these technologies that are established will move on to address other issues besides influenza."Tobacco-based vaccine production is the most exciting discovery to emerge from the program. Already, four military-funded facilities are producing mass quantities of H1N1 vaccines using tobacco plants as vehicles to grow the requisite proteins. The plants are resilient and fast-growing, meaning that millions of doses can be produced in four weeks, rather than the six months that's required using existing production models.
A team at Texas A&M will develop vaccines in a custom-built, 21-acre compound, which includes a 145,000-square-foot "biotherapeutic production facility" that uses sterile, mobile pods to grow the plants. And one company, iBio Inc., has already launched the first clinical trial of its tobacco-based H1N1 vaccine."The final trial will go on for six months, because we have to do safety monitoring," Magill said. "But we'll know whether the technology worked probably about the end of January."
So far, DARPA's tobacco-based endeavor is on track to transform pandemic response -- and create an entirely new industry for the novel approach to vaccine production. But the agency's not done yet: Earlier this year, it doled out $5.3 million to a team at Arizona State University, for an "insta-vaccine" initiative that could yield new vaccines for emerging threats within seven days of detection. There's even the possibility of detecting pathogens before they appear in the first place. DARPA's "Prophecy" program, launched last year, would accurately anticipate "the rate, direction and phenotype of viral mutations" -- giving health agencies worldwide a valuable head start.

I personally think the government is contradicting it's self. Before i read this article, it was an article explaining how the government is starting to make more graphic ads about cigarrette smoking and lung cancer. Now there's a cure for H1N1 is tobacco based. Im not saying it will or won't work,l but how is that possible if tobacco is so bad for your body. I just feel the govenment should do a lot more accurate procedures and test before releasing this vaccine to the public.

Depression is a illness, that can cause people to feel sad, grief, and to lose interest in their everyday activities, this condition can also make you have little energy, and make you wanna withdraw yourself from others. This can cause people to become embarrassed or ashamed, but when you realize something is going on, there is a need to seek treatment, because it could eventually lead to depression. Depression is caused by a personal weakness, that is where neurotransmitters are out f balance. Depression is not a disease.

My opinion on this article is that it's sad that people live with this condition, and sometimes take their lives. Everyone deserves to be happy, even if you have to take a medication to make you that way, its not something that should make anyone feel lower about themselves. I believe that teenagers would be main people that you would see with depression, due to the things, and peer pressure that they have to face everyday.

The increase was found in the ventral striatum, which is an area in the brain strongly associated with pleasure, reinforcement and addiction formation. In men, the dopamine increased is released . This has a stronger association with positive effects.

What I think about this article is that the alcohol has more affect on the men than the woman. Also , that it men abuse the alchohal more because , of something that trigger in their brain . but , scientist cant really determine on who abuses the alcohol more.

Group Demands Immediate Halt of Full-Body Airport Scanners

http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/11/epic-airport/

If you have been to an up to date airport latley in the United States, you are probably familiar with devices called Full-Body scanners. There are currently 450 of these machines in our country as of now, deployed by The Transportation Security Administration. Marc Rotenburg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, said this Tuesday: “The suspicionless search of all airport travelers in this most invasive way violates the reasonableness standard contained in the Fourth Amendment." He suspects that the government are using these scanners to take pictures of the naked human body.

I think that these scanners are necessary in United States airports today. My cousins passed away on September 11, and I believe if we would have had this kind of technology back then that the tragedy that happened to families, including mine, would not have happened. My opinion on Rotenburg's comment is that he has become overly paranoid about the government. I believe that the full-body scanners are used for security purposes only. If they are allowed to give full-body cavity searches, what is so wrong about letting them scan your body?

To fight digestive system cancers antibody-based therapies has reinforced the range of medications that are allready out on th emarket.four antibodys has allready been improved. more are still needed to be improved. this has resulted in a paticent policy that has went up sense 2005.

i think that if scintist was to figure out how to make antibodys and make a lot of them then i think that a lot of sicknesses would be healed. if we have an ampel amout of antibodys then stuff like cancer and desies would be cured.

Pills fail to work on Alzheimer's patients

Omega-3 pills promoted as boosting memory didn't slow mental and physical decline in older patients with Alzheimer's disease, a big disappointment in a multimillion-dollar government-funded study. The results with pills containing DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, highlight "the continued frustration over lack of effective interventions" for the memory-robbing disease, an editorial said, published with the study in Wednesday's Journal of the American Medical Association. DHA occurs naturally in the brain and is found in reduced amounts in people with Alzheimer's disease. Some smaller, less rigorous studies suggested that mental decline could be slowed or prevented by eating fish, the main dietary source for omega-3 fatty acids, or supplements like fish oil pills that contain fatty acids including DHA. The study used capsules of DHA oil derived from algae. Results were similar in both groups; DHA provided no benefits in slowing Alzheimer's symptoms. The pills also didn't work even in a subgroup of participants with the mildest Alzheimer's symptoms.
It doesn't surprise me that the pills didn't work against Alzheimer's. Now and days, the government will just put any kind of medicines or "cures" out , just because they think it causes other illness , it will cure all - which isn't true at all. I think they should do more research and make sure that the cureness will actually cure the illness before releasing it to the public.

http://blogs.wsj.com/health/2010/11/01/curing-hepatitis-c-will-take-more-than-new-treatments/

The meeting at the american association for the study of liver dieseases are developing new treatmentes for hepatitis C.Telaprevir and boceprevir are the most likely to cure hepatitis C. Thers also a widespread of pills that will win the FDA approval for next year. The new medicines wont be sufficient to wipe out the infeaction disease.Just adding a new drug just wont solve the problem of this infeaction.

I think that new treatments to cure hepatitis c will give people a lot of hope.It will save lives and future people. This new treatments will effect the peoples way of study new treatments. This medicen will reduce a small amount of deaths each year.I hpoe this new treatment is the real stuff to end hepatitis c.
